Responsible Products

Seagrass, bamboo, rattan, and the list of natural materials go on and on. We’ve gathered a few of the most essential pieces of knowledge right here.

Natural materials

We love natural materials. Our broad scope of countries to source from all have natural materials that can be locally harvested and used for new product development. Materials such as bamboo, rattan, and seagrass are some of our favorites to source as they offer a great range of usage variety. Whether for indoor or outdoor baskets or for garden furniture, the materials are great for customization and unique product design.

Recycled Paper

Recycled paper is made of excess paper from local printing productions. The paper is blended into a homogenous pulp that is then strained and dried before being cut and shaped into gorgeous pottery. When a pot is produced, the leftovers are collected and mixed, ready to be used in the next batch of paper pots – meaning nothing is wasted.

The pottery is waterproofed thanks to natural rubber. By using recycled paper, we can reduce the amount of waste that ends up in landfills and conserve natural resources such as trees and water.

Rattan

Almost all the world’s rattan comes from the rainforests of Indonesia. It is widely used in furniture making, handicrafts, and home décor due to its strength, durability, and flexibility. Rattan is a sustainable alternative to wood and plastic. And it regenerates in 5 to 7 years, which makes it a beneficial material for production.

Rattan is also eco-friendly, as it requires minimal processing and is fully biodegradable. It is a popular choice among those who prioritize sustainability and want to reduce their environmental impact.

There are many types of rattan, but Kubu Rattan is one of our most used raw materials for baskets. It’s used either as weaving materials or as a wicker core.

Forest Steward Council® Certification

We are pleased members and certificate holders of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC-C165072). The FSC® is one of the world’s most trusted sustainable forest management solutions. An FSC certification ensures a trustworthy chain of custody from the materials’ harvesting, the products’ journey, and a high level of social responsibility from the harvest action to the delivery.

We are members and FSC certified, as we believe it is an excellent security to offer our customers. The FSC certification includes a broader variety of products than one might think, from paper ornaments to wooden barrels.

Every year since we became a member of the FSC, we have participated in the global FSC campaign. A campaign that has, throughout the years, shed light on working conditions, climate change, and biodiversity.
